Khan quotation

1
"The extant proto-masoretic manuscripts show that the text had been fixed not only in content but also in orthography by the third century BC." (Geoffrey Khan, 'Languages of the Old Testament' in Cambridge History of the Bible, Vol. 1, p. 5).

  1. I'm sure we all recognize that it is problematic to respond to one sentence pulled out of an essay describing such a complex issue.

Still, as a response, I'd suggest the following: change "the text" to "a text," and add "in some manuscripts" after "fixed not only in content but also in orthography."
